Iyah’s at the ages where she can clearly recognize things she often sees or watches. Last night my husband was using his computer and he was looking at videos on YouTube, upon seeing this she quickly went to her daddy and asked for Barney. Of course she asked until her daddy gave in and searched for Barney videos. See she associates You Tube with Barney
I let her watch when I’m using the computer so she could sit on my lap and we would sing together. She’s growing up to be an internet savvy little girl (lol).

Tagging Aggie Mai, Buge and Dianne!
This month I gave Iyah her first set of crayons and coloring book. She loves doodling in her doodle pro and I’ve been teaching her to draw shapes so I figured she could now color too. My husband was hesitant for fear that she might write on the walls and floors (which she did) but I told him we’ll just buy huge manila papers next times so she’ll have more space for coloring.

I couldn’t find any other brand of crayons so I got this. I checked and it is non toxic and safe for kids her age.
I think this photo says it all. She was really happy with her crayons. She used both her left and right hand for coloring. Too bad the photo is blurry. She was constantly moving so this was the best I can come up with. Anyway it was such a fun activity for her and I know this is only the first of the many boxes of crayons we will have.
I read this article on MSN this morning and thought it would be nice to post it here (to remind myself all about it). I love my little girl to bits but you know how kids get sometimes when they don’t get what they have or if they are over stimulated.
A Guide to Tantrums
Understanding, preventing and surviving them
By Claire McCarthy, M.D., Harvard Health Publications
I’ve been there, too — in public with a small child who is screaming her brains out, as if someone is pulling her fingernails out one by one. Of my five children, Natasha was the most dramatic: Once I walked through Target pulling her along as she clung to my leg, letting the entire (huge) store know that she wanted the (very expensive) princess telephone. I know that feeling of anger, embarrassment, and desperation.
Why Tantrums Happen
Tantrums are a normal part of childhood. They are most common in 1- to 3-year-olds, but sometimes older children have them. They usually happen because a child:
Gets frustrated. Children ages one to three are learning to use language and their bodies. They become frustrated as they struggle to express themselves and when they can’t do something they want to.
Gets upset. Disappointment and anger can be very difficult feelings to deal with, especially for a small child.
Is asserting his or her independence. This is the age when children begin to say no — sometimes purely for the sake of saying no.
Some Children Are More Prone to Tantrums
While every child throws a tantrum at some point in their lives, some children are definitely more prone to them than others. My eldest, Michaela, hardly ever threw one; I thought I was doing everything right as a parent — until my next child came along and threw plenty of tantrums.
Here are the most common reasons why some children are more prone to tantrums:
Some kids get frustrated more often than others, usually because they don’t talk well enough to express themselves — or aren’t yet physically able to do what they want to like running, climbing and reaching.
Temperaments vary. Some children are simply more emotional, more stubborn (that’s Natasha!), or have more trouble handling disappointment than others. It was Michaela’s thoroughly easygoing temperament that made tantrums rare for her, as opposed to my parenting of her.
Some kids need more attention. The attention they get for tantrums isn’t really the kind they want, but it’s attention.
Tantrums work. If you could get what you wanted by screaming, wouldn’t you do it?

We love Mcdonalds pancakes here at home. Good thing they do home delivery as early as 4:00am so whenever I feel like it I just order online and 30 minutes later someone is ringing the doorbell with my pancakes for me.

Just a random video of the little girl dancing to a Barney song. As you can see she loves Barney (a lot). She would insist on watching Barney (as in nagrerequest) and would still be happy even if you play the same episode three times. She would laugh loud at certain scenes, it is really fun to watch her. She would sing along too, she’s learning a lot from that purple dinosaur so I’m not complaining.
Yes mommy sometimes just can’t leave you alone. Usually you don’t mind me taking a lot of pictures but here it looks like you had enough. I think it was because you were watching”Marney” and you want to be left alone? Lol. She is indeed growing up and wants her space from time to time, oh my I’m talking about a toddler here. I hope I she’ll be at the phase where she’ll love to pose for the camera and I could take a lot of nice shots. I think she still look adorable though, and this is a scrap worthy photo as well. I should be uploading more photos to my flickr account too, I should put that on my to do list.

Isn’t this photo the sweetest? This was taken last Thursday at the library.
We went there while we were waiting for my sister to arrive, it was her birthday so she took us to a nice restaurant for a fancy dinner. Hubby came from work too so for a while it was just the little girl and me reading books. She loves the place, so much that she can’t stay put for too long. She had to go walk around, touch the books on the shelves, smile at other kids then come back to me to read a little. It is great the there’s a lot of libraries here and all are pretty nice. This one is inside a mall and is the nearest to our place. So we can shop, eat and read all in one place (great place for mommies). We will definitely go to the library more often.
Actually there’s a lot and I feel bad for not writing about it because I will forget some (or a lot of them) and I call myself a scrapbooker (lol). So my baby is now 21 months old. I’m already planning her birthday party: I have a few prospects but I still can’t decide. Some of the locations are good but it’s a bit far and I worry about how the guests will go there. I have to choose a place first before deciding on the theme and other things. It is exciting and sad because before I knew it she’s two years old.
She loves piggy back rides. You mention “piggy back” and she’ll come running towards your back and wrap her arms around your neck.
She sings the abc, some of the letters we can understand but the rest just rhymes with the sounds in the song.
Loves to color, I have to watch her though or else she’ll color everywhere (my husband worries about our off white walls…hehehe).
Undress herself with minimal supervision. Tries to wear her shoes too.
Moves the furniture around. She loves pushing the chairs and her high chair all over the place.
Eating well. She’ll eat anything now, I’m not sure if she’s eating a lot but at least she’s not picky.
Reads her books on her own. It’s fun to watch how she reads aloud and points at things.
She has 15 teeth now, some just erupted and some are halfway there. It doesn’t bug her anymore.
That’s some of the things I remember for now. I just want to post before I forget about it again. She is indeed growing up.
