Baby Medicine Cabinet Must-Haves

Posted in Articles | No Comments »

• Infant acetaminophen (Tylenol) and a dosing chart. Get the chart from your doctor — it’s not included in the packaging for babies under two.

• Medicine dropperor syringe so you can dispense medication accurately.

• Bulb syringe (also known as a nasal aspirator) for clearing your baby’s nose of stuffy mucus.

• Digital thermometer. Though your baby may protest, taking her temperature rectally is most accurate. Keep rubbing alcohol or alcohol-soaked wipes on hand for cleaning the thermometer after each use.

• Antibiotic cream for small cuts and scratches (those tiny fingernails are sharp!). Don’t use adhesive bandages, since your baby can choke on them if they come loose.

• Tweezers in case of splinters.

• Baby lotion to relieve chafed or irritated skin (lanolin-based breast cream works too).

• Cold-mist vaporizer or humidifier to relieve cold symptoms; ask your doctor whether over-the-counter decongestants are okay.

• Rehydration fluid (such as Pedialyte) for diarrhea; always talk to your doctor before using.

I got this list online and I’m glad I have most of the items listed. My Iyah little girl rarely gets sick and when she does it is always cough, colds and fever…either one of all of the three at the same time. We always have over the counter medicine for fever and cough and most of the time it works for her.

When I pick her up.

Posted in Preschool Diaries | No Comments »

I meet different types of people at the little girl’s school when I pick her up after class, there’s the mommies like me, the helpers and the grandparents. It’s not uncommon here for grandparents to look after their grandchildren and I see that a lot at the school, there’s even one grandpa who stands at the far side of the block and light up his cigar as he waits for his granddaughter to be released from class. I’m one of those who tinkers with their phone while waiting and there’s others who chitchat with one another. I haven’t made friends with any of the parents yet except for the usual smile and nod, maybe because I always have earphones stuck in my ears and I’m tinkering my phone (lol).

Getting quotes

Posted in Baby Memorables, Preschool Diaries | No Comments »

I was getting tuition fee quotes from various kindergarten in our area yesterday and I thought it would also be a good time to get more insurance quotes while I was at it. I know the little girl just started nursery but I wanted to be prepared for next year when she goes to kindergarten 1. I promised myself while she’s in nursery I would let her be comfortable at school first, the environment, being with other kids her own age and having someone teaching her other than me. We do workbooks at home but I don’t put too much pressure on her, I want to make learning fun for her so she won’t get tired of school and learning new things.

Chattin’ time

Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

It is always fun to chat with a friend, it’s nice that eventhough we live in different countries we could still talk about our lives, our hobbies, shopping and a lot more because of the internet. You gotta love how technology really helped people connect with one another no matter where they are. It was funny I was talking about finding more workbooks for the little girl while she’s on the look out for a new spring plungers. We’ve exchanged recipes and shared our shopping wishlist (she wants more Kimi dolls and I want another Coach purse) for our birthday. Looking forward to having another chat with her soon.

Wearing her uniform

Posted in Preschool Diaries | No Comments »

These are some photos of the little girl wearing her school uniforms. She wears her regular uniform three days a week and her PE uniform the rest of the week. I love that she’s always excited to go to school. I can tell that she looks forward to going to class the moment I take her uniform from the closet and prepare her school things. I’m just relieved there’s no separation anxiety on her part whatsoever, she just went to school as if she’s been to class before. I love that she waves goodbye to me and say “bye mommy” in a cheerful voice when I drop her off to class. She have lots of stories for me when I go pick her up, she would also mention she’s very tired and sleepy (lol) so often she falls asleep as soon as she hits the bed when we get home. No reports from her teacher about troubles at school too, being an only child I know she’ll have sharing issues at first but I think she’s slowly making progress on that. I’m just so proud of her.

Getting a chill

Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

I know it’s winter in some part of the world, a friend of mine was looking for furnace filter for their apartment. Most of my friends are complaining about the several inches of snow they have shovel off their driveway before going to work. I would love the cold I think, I don’t know how I’d feel if I have to live with it for several months a year but I think it would be fun to experience winter. I live in a tropical country so we get sun all year round, no snow here at all. On the bright side I don’t have to worry about my winter wardrobe :)

Ouch!

Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

I could really a massage right about now, I must have slept on my side because when I woke up this morning my left shoulder is aching so bad. I would take some joint pain relief if we have any but we don’t so I’m just gonna endure this for today. The little girl tried to help by offering a massage when I told her my should is aching (what a sweet little girl), I wish that can help but I still love the gesture. I’m doing some stretching so hopefully it would help with the discomfort, it’s not really that painful but it’s uncomfortable. Hopefully this will be gone tomorrow.

Wishing and hoping

Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Now that my little girl is a preschooler I can’t help but be a little sad that she’s no longer a baby. I love babies, that sweet smell and tiny little fingers and toes….I want to have another baby again. I’m even visiting www.prenatalvitamins.org these days to read helpful articles for moms to be. No I’m not pregnant yet but I hope I can get pregnant this year. I think I’m ready, it would take a lot of getting use to having two kids to take care of but no one said being a full time mom is easy. I’m hoping and praying for a little one….soon.

My Preschooler

Posted in Baby Memorables, Preschool Diaries | No Comments »

Today was Iyah’s first day at nursery school. (January 6, 2010)

She didn’t have a uniform yet since I enrolled her to class only yesterday. The school wasn’t our first choice since it’s not really near our place (although it’s in the same area) but there was no available slot at the preschool school near our block.

Her first day went smoothly. When it was time for the students to go in and her teacher Miss Azlina was taking the students in the classroom she went in with her classmates and never looked back, not a single tear…she didn’t even checked to see if I was around but proceeded to sit on her chair. The teacher said I can go and wait outside since she seems to be coping well. I waited to hear a cry, but it never came. Come recess time I was able to see her with her class in through the glass doors of the snack room, and there she was sitting with her classmates drinking from her water bottle and eating biscuits. She was chatting with her teacher and classmates, no signs that she was scared or shy around others. I was standing there laughing by myself, all the worries about how she’s going to handle school are gone.

When the class was dismissed and each student came through the door, I saw her before she saw me and she looked like she was looking for me…like she knew I was going to be there after class. When she didn’t saw me right away I saw a little bit of worry in her eyes but when she saw me, she smiled and proceeded to tell me what she did at school. And then she said, “Now I’m so tired and too sleepy, can you carry me?”

I’m so proud of her. I’m a little sad that she’s a big girl now but this is such a big milestone and I’m so glad she did so well.

The best

Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

I was searching for healthy recipes online when I stumbled upon the best fat burning supplement review and so I spent the next 5 minutes or so to read the article. I’m not sure I’m ready for any pill or drug to help me lose weight but I’ve read how it helped a lot of people. Right now I love that I get to go out and to a bit of walking everyday and not sit around the house all day. I think that’s a start for me.
