I had my first parent teacher conference today and I’m so glad it went well. It’s the end of the first semester and parents were given a schedule to meet with their form teacher to discuss the progress of their child. We were also given their porfolio to look at and return the next day. It’s so nice to see pictures of Iyah doing all sorts of activities at school. I’ve seen her observation checklist and her progress is great. The teacher informed me that Iyah doesn’t like to get her hands dirty (like touching glue and paint with her bare hands). I’m going to pick up art supplies for us to use during the school vacation, gotta let her get use to the using her hands for art projects. I’m happy that we did well this first semester, phew half of the school year gone.

I was searching online for the best sunscreen for my little girl but instead I stumbles upon treatments for eczema. I want to get her a new sunscreen with higher spf for her to use when we go to the zoo next month. There’s a water park inside the zoo and as much as she’s going to have a great time splish splashing I need to make sure she gets enough sunscreen to protect her skin.

A friend of mine and I were chatting the other day and we talked about shopping and of course beauty products. She asked if I could recommend a best acne treatment for her. I’m not using any of those products so I searched online for products she could try. I know how confusing it can get to choose a new product because there’s a lot available in the market today. Every single one says they have the best formulation and would work 100%. Of course different people have different skin types and what works for some might not work for others. It is just a matter of finding the right one that will work with your skin.

My husband wanted a new rug for the living room, he’s been telling me that we should get a new one for months. He really wanted one of those shaggy type rugs we often see at Courts when we go there. So last month I gave in and told him we could buy a new one. I felt bad for throwing away our old area rug (we bought it when we moved here last year so it’s not reall that old) but I just know that we won’t be using it again and that it’s too heavy and bulk to keep in our storage room. Anyway we’re happy with our recent purchase, it’s the right size for the living room and the colors won’t get dirty easily even if you have a toddler at home.

Awww that’s my little girl exploring the playground on her own. It was a big playground with lots of different play areas and she happily wandered on her own. I kept a watchful eye but I let her play and enjoy herself. When did this happen?! Soon I will no longer have a toddler at home (a fact I’ve yet to accept), although I’m a bit sad about that I am also looking forward to the new experiences and memories we will have. I’ve known that Iyah is independent, even her teacher at school told me that she can do things on her own most of the time. Seeing her this independent tugs my heart a little bit, she no longer needs mommy to help her in everything she does. It’s bittersweet I guess, I’m happy that she is discovering more about herself and what she can do but I’m also sad that she’s moving farther and farther away from being my baby girl.

I got a few more auto insurance quotes in the mail today (along with a nice package I’ve been expecting this week). We don’t have any use for it since we don’t have a car here and we don’t plan to buy one anytime soon. My mom on the other hand is looking at several insurance quotes for their car, I might give her a call to share what I have here so she can have an idea as to how much is the price difference here than back home.

When you have an active toddler who goes to preschool five days a week you are pretty much wiped out by the end of the day. I don’t need sleeping pills to help me sleep at night in fact most days I can’t wait to crawl to bed by the end of a busy day. Taking care of my little girl keeps me on my toes and she’s all the sleeping pill I need to help me sleep at night.

toys. Iyah is now interested with Barbie dolls so I’m tempted to buy her more. I saw these at Metro today and there’s lot of really stylish looking dolls that I love. I think these are new releases, the dolls look really nice and the furnitures and other accessories are great too. I might checkout Toys R’ Us and see if they have any running promotion on Barbies, I like comparing prices from different toy stores before making a purchase, since we buy a lot of toys it is always better if we can get them on sale or at a discounted price.

I need to go to the salon badly for a new hair color. My roots are screaming for a much needed TLC. I think I will go with a darker hair color this time around, I must remember to schedule an appointment at the salon for next week. The place is always crowded on weekends and they don’t even offer hair loss cures but just the normal salon services. I guess a lot of women only have time for themselves on weekends especially moms like me. I don’t feel bad for spending hours at the salon, it’s my “me” time and I know I deserve a little bit of time for myself every now and then. It doesn’t come often so I’m thankful when I get a chance to pamper myself.

I’m so happy that my little girl is a happy and healthy toddler. She gained a little weight and now her cheeks are fuller and I just want to pinch those chubby cheeks of hers. It’s good that I don’t need the best whey protein powder now that she likes to drink her milk again. She went on a phase where she didn’t like to drink milk at all and that got me worried. She is such a picky eater that she needs milk to supplement her nutrition, thank goodness now she likes milk again. I do hope one day she’ll learn to love food as much as I do, she can gain all the weight
