I love that my little girl are being taught about independence at school. One of the first feedbacks I got from her form teacher during the early months of school was that my daughter is very independent, I guess all those times I’ve encouraged her to do things on her own with me right beside her to guide her (and give some pep talk) reflects on how she is at school. I’ve seen first hand that students do things on their own during certain parts of the class/lessons. They even let the kids go to the toilet by themselves. At first I was concerned about this but I saw that they have kiddie toilets and Elkay sinks so kids can do it themselves with ease. I’m glad my daughter is learning to do things on her own. As much as I want to hold her hand and be by her side all time, in the real world she has to learn to take care of herself too.
I was thinking that eventhough my daughter enjoyed her day at the beach it would still be better if she goes swimming in a pool next time. I felt bad that she came down with slight fever when we got home from our day at the beach. She didn’t go for more than thirty minutes but I guess having pool heaters is still better for her. This was her first time swimming in a beach but I wasn’t expecting her to get sick since she’s gone swimming before (but in a pool). She did have lots of fun though, she wasn’t scared of the sand nor the waves so I didn’t feel so guilty that she got sick afterwards.

A few days after we returned from vacation and Iyah got back to school I found out that they will have their racial harmony day at school. Have I known about this while we were in Manila I would have gotten her a fancy filipino traditional costume. Instead a friend from school gave us her daughter’s chinese dress for Iyah to wear. She looks adorable of course but I would have loved for her to wear a kimona and saya next time. I would be more prepared next year I promise ![]()
I know I should be doing more important things like maybe perusing the copy of the life insurance quotes comparison my mom asked me to read for her I don’t feel like doing anything today. I have this terrible cough it’s not getting better, I ‘m tired from coughing too much that all I want to do is lie down. Well I’m reading an e-book right now but still that’s the only thing I want to do at the moment. It’s a good thing the little girl is happily playing by herself right now, I can have a few minutes to myself before she insist I play with her.
My daughter never fail to make me laugh, sometimes not intentionally but she makes me a happy mom all the same. I love watching her go about doing things on her own, playing imaginatively with her toys or reading a book…it’s so fun to just observe her. I won’t need wrinkle cream because she makes me happy too. She’s at the age where we can have sensible conversations and sometimes I’m amaze at how much she understands when it comes to the world around her. She would pause and collect her thoughts before responding to what I just told her and I would be left smiling because of her thoughtfulness and honesty.
One of our conversations the other day….
Little girl: (Upon hearing me cough again) Mom what’s wrong?
Me: I have a cough, my throat is itchy….
Little girl: (In deep thought) Ohhh….here’s an idea! Well you can take your medicine then you will feel better.
Me: Okay I will, thanks for reminding me.
It is great being a mom.
When I found out I was pregnant I quickly did what any expecting mothers would do, do my research and find out more about how to stay healthy and safe during the entire pregnancy. I knew it was important to take prenatal multivitamin religiously so that’s what I did, I never missed a single one (thanks partly to my husband who make sure I take mine every night). I was more conscious of what I eat and what I do and I made sure I make it to every doctor’s appointment. As an expecting mom I did what I could to be informed and be as prepared as I can be for the pregnancy.

These are some pictures of Iyah and her DaddyLo taken at the beach. As you can see my little girl loved being in the water. At first I wasn’t sure how she would feel about the beach, sure she loved the swimming pool but being in open water is different not to mention there’s sand instead of tiles. Iyah doesn’t like sand on her feet at the playground so I was concerned. The moment she stepped out of the car in her bathing suit though I soon realized that she would enjoy the beach as much as she enjoys the swimming pool. She was indeed one sweet beach babe.
When I found I was pregnant one of the first things I did was search online for the best cocoa butter stretch marks lotion. Afterall I was expecting to have unsightly stretch marks when my tummy gets bigger. As it turned out I had stretchmarks in our areas that I wasn’t exactly paying any attention because I thought only my tummy needed the lotion (boy I was wrong). Cocoa butter worked for me though, I barely have stretch marks on my tummy and it helped combat the dryness of my skin too. It was a good decision to start splattering lotion the moment I found out I was expecting.
I’m looking forward to spending time with family and friends during our vacation, of course I’m also looking forward to the food. I won’t deprive myself from eating the food I’ve missed since it’s been quite a while since I last went home for vacation. I know I might consider taking apidexin when we get back because for sure I would gain weight but that’s okay. I might regret this decision later on but for now let me have a slice of mango cake from Red Ribbon.
My sister and nephew are both seniors in highschool this year and soon they will both be preparing to take entrance exams at different universities. My sister is still undecided on what course to take for college, my nephew however is set in taking up engineering following the footsteps of hubby and his grandpa. He is reviewing for UPCAT and I think he’s keen on trying out gmat prep to help him prepare for other entrance exams. It is good to have options when it comes to where you want to go for college, getting to a good school is important as it set what kind of job opportunities you will have once you graduate. This is why it is important to study and be prepared for the exams.
