Something to think about

It makes me sad when I read about teenagers losing their way and turning into substance abuse, it’s sad that they’re throwing their lives away when there’s so many sick people who would give anything just to have one more day to spend with their loved ones. One of my prayers as a mother is that my children grow up to be well rounded individuals who are secured and confident about themselves that they won’t ever think of doing something that is bad for them to fit in. I know how peer pressure can be daunting for teenagers who are just starting to figure out who they really are. It is good that there are places like malibu rehab treatment center where they go and seek treatment. It is not to late to turn a new leaf and start over, you just have to be focused and have the determination to change. And you need people to help you do it.

Her new bling

A friend of mine was thrilled to receive a present from her husband, it was their anniversary last week and of course they celebrated big by going to a mini getaway in Las Vegas but she wasn’t expecting a fancy anniversary diamond ring from him. I was telling her how much fun it would be if hubby and I can go have a weekend getaway too, with the kids now it’s not possible so I envy her a little bit. Anyway she showed me the picture of her new bling and it was beautiful. It was really nice of her husband to surprise her and I’m sure she appreciated the gesture too.

Nine Months

This baby girl is so amazing and she’s nine months old today. I hate that time is flying by as it seems, she’s growing up way too fast but at the same I love seeing her grow into this wonderful little person and I’m thankful I get to spend each day with her. When I’m playing with her or carrying her I feel this overwhelming love and joy, I’m just grateful to have two daughters. I think every mom feels this intense feeling towards their children, takes your breath away overflowing kind of love that I think quite literally make your heart swell with happiness. Yes there are days when it’s rough, there are days when I’m just too tired and frustrated to appreciate the beauty of my kids but after all the mess has been cleaned, after all the bottles and clothes are washed…I love them and I’m blessed to be a mom.

Another class for her

My daughter is taking two classes aside from attending a regular preschool. She is taking chinese and ballet classes once a week which I think she likes, I’m thinking if it’s okay to add one more class to her schedule. I don’t like to overdo it of course and I want her to have fun and enjoy herself and not feel like it’s a burden or a chore to attend these classes. I’m leaning towards enrolling her to a music class, she seem to like the electric guitar like her dad but I don’t mind if she choose piano as well. The thing about having a five year old is that they have more or less a grasp of what they want and I always take her opinion in the decision making process. I always tell my husband that it’s almost as if I’m talking to an adult they I talk to our daughter so I know she’s capable of thinking for herself.

On the road

We got a letter from the insurance company about the update to the terms and conditions of our home insurance, I’m glad we got a heads up (always better to be in the know when it comes to things like this). I was just telling my husband how a schoolmate of mine from highschool and I got to chatting on facebook and she was telling me how they needed a new rv insurance since they recently bought an rv this past summer. They like to go on road trips with their kids during school break and it seemed like a good idea to have one at the time. Anyway she was telling me how much fun their kids are having, with camping and all sorts of outdoorsy stuff they’ve been doing. Ahhhh school vacations are always fun!

Happy New Year

A big year for my girls this year…

This is the last year of my eldest daughter in preschool. She’s excited about going back to school and seeing all her friends again but it will be a big change for her (and us really) since she will be in morning class this school year. It’s better for us, less stressful for me and I’ll have more time to focus on the baby and not walk around rushing things to make it to school on time. I know she will adjust well, anyway this change is inevitable because when she starts primary school she’ll have to wake up early too.

Here’s to hoping for a great year for my girls, lots of growing and learning to do. May they (and us too) have good health all through out the year.

Getting ready to party

Christmas is only a few short weeks a way and I need to get shopping for the people on my list soon. Our annual Christmas party is early this year since a lot of our friends will be going back home so time is of the essence right now. I might resort to getting some cheap silver dollars to give as gifts to the not so young kids this year. I wish I can be more creative with gift ideas but when you have a baby learning how to crawl (and possibly fall off the bed) it’s hard to get the creative juices flowing. It’s the thought that counts anyway right?

Thoughts on school

A friend of mine got a blackberry storm for her son who just passed his PSLE exams. I think it was well deserved knowing how hard primary six students work all year for this exam, it is an important exam which will determine their secondary school education so it is a big deal. I’m not looking forward to my daughters taking their exams because it is going to be stressful for us parents too. It’s not only for students, as parents we feel the pressure as well and we try to do everything we can to give our kids the tools and resources to do well at school It is part of our job as parents to make sure they have the best tools we can give them.

Her sensitive skin

We’ve been to the hospital twice already this month. Thank goodness it’s just for our little baby’s skin problems and nothing more serious than that, but still I wish we don’t have to go at all. Good thing my eldest is well behaved while we sat there waiting for our name to be called, I didn’t have to worry about her touching anything from the hospital carts. She enjoyed playing with the toys though so I guess that kept her busy. My baby has eczema around the corners of her mouth, it doesn’t really go away but some days are better that it’s almost gone but the next day it will flare up again. At the beginning of this month it has gotten worse and it was getting bigger that it prompted us to see her paediatrician, he game us some cream to put on the infected area to use for a couple of days and see if it will clear up the skin. Unfortunately it didn’t so they set us up to visit a dermatologist at the skin centre, he gave us another cream which to my relief worked! Her skin cleared up in two days and I was ecstatic. I hope we don’t have to deal with any skin problems again.

Her lashes

I’ve been chatting with my sister often these days and it’s fun to talk to about all sorts of girly stuff with her. She’s been asking me to read a few eyelash growth product reviews the other night because she is currently obsess with having longer eyelashes. I don’t know why but I’m pretty sure this is just a phase, you know like most teenagers she goes through phases like this one. I told her a good mascara and eyelash curler would be more than enough for her since she have thick eyelashes, it’s just a matter of enhancing them to make them appear longer. I guess with the holidays coming up she will be attending a few parties and wanted to look nice. I told her she’s beautiful just the way she is
