I saw a promotion on clarins skincare while browsing sites today and I’m quite tempted to go down to the mall and see what they have to offer at discounted prices. Being a busy mom I don’t have a lot of time to devote on a complicated skincare regime but I try my best to stick to my very simple ritual everyday/every night. I don’t need a lot of products but I need one that actually do what it’s suppose to do. Clarins seem to be a reputable brand and I’d like to try their face cream. Of course being on a budget as well I need products that won’t cost me an arm and a leg or a week’s worth of groceries.

Run run run!

One of the things we love about her neighborhood is the playground. There’s one a directly across our apartment building’s lobby but there are two other playgrounds nearby. When you have kids it is important to have lots of room for them to explore and run around and we have that. I don’t know about PlaytimeUS.com school playground equipment but I like our playgrounds, maybe it could use a few more additions to it but it does the job of keeping kids entertained. In this day and age of modern technology where lots of kids spends their play time in front of the computer or holding a gadget it is important to keep a balance between computer and outdoor play time.

Gift for mother’s day

I’m baffled as to what to give my mom for mother’s day this year. Of course I can always go with the usual things that make her happy such as a new purse but I just gave her one for her birthday a few months ago. I’m sure for someone who isn’t a diabetic having cookie bouquets delivered fast at your doorstep will make a nice present but not for my mom. I suppose I can go to something more personalized this year like two framed scrapbook pages of my girls, I’m sure she would love that. I could also send her handmade cards from the girls (which my eldest will make). I think a gift doesn’t have to be expensive for it to hold value, a simple token can mean so much too.

Sitting here

I sit on my computer chair several hours a day to work and to scrapbook so to say that it is one of the most used piece of furniture in our house is an understatement. It’s probably why one of the wheel squeaks now when I try to roll my chair, I will ask my husband to replace one of the caster wheel soon because the sound of wheel is starting to bother me a little. Of course my eldest daughter loves to use my chair as a means of entertaining her little sister, making her giggle as she go round and round on that chair. I hope that I won’t have to replace it anytime soon.

Ten months old

Oh my ten months already? You are growing up way too fast sweetheart. You are definitely a big talker now. You can say “dada” for daddy and
“tete” for Ate which is so nice. You are also more are aware of your surroundings and you have a strong sense of understanding. For instance you know that your dede is your milk and that it’s meal time when you see your plate. You eagerly wait for daddy to carry you when he gets home and you have a huge smile waiting for him. You are a big eater and would eat anything. You don’t always have the patience when waiting for your food. You are always on the go and love to watch and play with your sister.

He loves to grill

My dad loves to grill, when I was younger and lived at my parents’ house he would always grill something on weekends. We love eating his food of course, so much that we didn’t protest when he said he wanted to have backyard fire pit for himself. He didn’t actually have one built but he was very tempted. Oh how we love those porkchops and steak, we love weekend family meals because of it. We don’t do much grilling now since we don’t have the space so we just eat out when I am craving for steak

More storage for them

Having two kids means there’s lots of toys around the house. As much as I want those toys to be confined in the girls’ room they also play in the living room and that means there’s a corner full of toys in there too. I have to get a nice storage cabinet where they can put all their toys everything will be organized. Of course I need to pick something child friendly and safe for the girls to use, my little one will be opening everything so I should put that into consideration too. I also want something that will somehow match the furniture in the living room, now that’s going to be a tough one to find.

Furniture shopping

When we were deciding what furniture to buy for our house I’ve poured over lots of home decorating magazines for ideas and inspiration. It was the first time we will actually buy furniture for our home and we wanted to have plenty of options. My husband and I both decided that we weren’t into rustic furniture but rather we find modern contemporary pieces to be more appealing to us. The local magazines I bought have a list of stores and I’ve earmarked those pages so we can visit the stores that offers what we wanted. It was fun browsing furniture from one showroom to another. In the end we bought pieces that are easy to maintain, have clean lines and child friendly. We are definitely happy with the choices we made.

Music to my ears

My husband wants us to look at music classes in our community centre for our little girl. Well she’s five and he thinks she should at least be in one music related class, I want to be supportive but I’m still on the fence about this. She’s already taking ballet and chinese classes so I’m not sure we should add another class to her load. I think we should be careful about this decision, we don’t want her to be too tired from all the extra curricular activities. It’s nice though if she could learn how to play the piano or the guitar like her dad. We won’t be buying her one of those fancy hofner electric guitars but she can start taking one music class first and see how it goes. She could be like her daddy for all I know, I want to encourage her to do what she likes.

Something to think about

It makes me sad when I read about teenagers losing their way and turning into substance abuse, it’s sad that they’re throwing their lives away when there’s so many sick people who would give anything just to have one more day to spend with their loved ones. One of my prayers as a mother is that my children grow up to be well rounded individuals who are secured and confident about themselves that they won’t ever think of doing something that is bad for them to fit in. I know how peer pressure can be daunting for teenagers who are just starting to figure out who they really are. It is good that there are places like malibu rehab treatment center where they go and seek treatment. It is not to late to turn a new leaf and start over, you just have to be focused and have the determination to change. And you need people to help you do it.
